DESCRIPTION | Austin
If you’re looking for a solid partner with grit, heart, and looks to match; meet Austin! Austin is an 8-year-old buckskin draft cross gelding who defines what it means to be dependable. With his golden coat, striking eyes, and steady build, he’s the picture of confidence and class. Whether he’s carrying a first-time rider through the mountains or helping an experienced hand get a long day’s work done, Austin gives every ounce of himself without hesitation. This gelding has been there and done it. He’s spent time in the backcountry of Yellowstone, carrying riders of all levels through rugged, breathtaking terrain. He travels over downed timber, across bridges and rivers, through herds of elk and buffalo, and into some of the wildest country the West has to offer. He’s gathered and sorted cattle, ponied colts, led pack strings, and worked the kind of long days that build a horse’s foundation the right way. He knows what a full day’s work feels like and shows up the same the next morning or with months off, ready to go again. Austin has been used at brandings, in parades, and on every kind of trail ride you can imagine! He’s calm and collected when you need quiet, and quick to step up when the job calls for it. Beginners trust him because he’s gentle and forgiving; advanced riders appreciate him because he’s responsive, athletic, and fun to ride. He is a guest favorite and receives compliments all summer long. He adapts naturally to whoever is on his back; he’ll babysit the inexperienced but lights up with purpose when asked to go to work. He neck reins, responds to leg pressure, crosses anything you point him at, hobbles, stands tied, and handles traffic, dogs, and wildlife with that signature draft-cross steadiness. He performs smooth flying lead changes and easily picks up the right lead. He lies down on cue and will pick you up from a rock, stump, or fence. One of the truest testaments to Austin’s heart and willingness came after a long day in the mountains. When a rider realized they’d lost their phone somewhere on the trail, Austin turned around and loped the entire route, through tough country and into the dark, without hesitation or complaint. He knew the job and did it willingly, sure-footed and steady every step of the way. Austin is the kind of horse everyone wants, but few find, a seasoned, trustworthy gelding with the mind to keep you safe and the heart to go all day. Whether you need a reliable mount for guests, a mountain horse for elk season, a partner to drag calves to the fire, or simply a solid trail companion, this gelding is ready to take you wherever you want to go. Austin is the real deal; solid, gentle, and always ready for the next adventure. Come check him out before the sale date. You can contact me at 307-272-4379 or/and at coltermorrishorses@gmail.com
